Kelli Russell
Agodon came up with such
a cool idea on her blog that I knew I had to participate. Here are the details: leave a comment with this post, and you'll be entered. You have until April 30, 2010 to leave a comment, thus entering yourself in the contest. On May 1, I'll put all the names in a soup pot (because I'm low tech that way), and select 2 lucky winners to receive a book, which I'll mail at my own expense. Make sure that your blog comment gives me some way to reach you (a blog profile or link or an e-mail address--no need to leave more personal information). Those of you reading on Facebook will need to migrate over to my blog to leave a comment at this post:
http://kristinberkey-abbott.blogspot.com/2010/03/national-poetry-month-book-give-away-my.htmlWhat books might you win? One is the earliest book of poetry that I fell in love with and
wrote about a few days ago, but don't worry--you'll get a new copy, which is being shipped to me, even as I type.
Actually, the first volume of poetry I fell in love with was Nikki Giovanni's
My House. I was a counselor at a Girl Scout camp, and this volume was on the bookshelf. I read it again and again during the summer of 1984. But it didn't really affect me profoundly, the way that Marge
Piercy's The Moon is Always Female did.
The other book I'm giving away is my chapbook, which I'll be happy to autograph for you.

Kristin,
How interesting -- Nikki Giovanni and Marge Piercy were my early poetic influences, too.
While I have the Piercy book, I would love to read/win yours!
Thanks! (and thanks, also, for stopping by my blog)
Thanks for this! (Advanced) Happy NaPoWriMo!
me too!
Thank you for doing this. Please toss my hat in the ring.
Panhandling for poetry here! Please do add me to your list of potential winners.
I appreciate it!
Kristin, I discovered your blog because I was looking for information about you to put beside Heaven on Earth in my Poems by Heart journal. A poetry-loving friend and I have decided to memorize a poem-a-week and this week I selected Heaven on Earth. I was happy to find your contest and even happier to have the chance to tell you how much I enjoy the images and humor in this poem. I will enjoy learning it this week. Thank you for writing it and thank you for the contest. Pat Brisson

Thanks to Kelli for organizing this; and thank you for being generous in this giveaway. I hope I win something!
Marge Piercy is an amazing writer - Woman on the Edge of Time never grows old - and I haven't read this collection. Nor your chapbook. I'd love to read both... Thank you!
